If you're the health-conscious type (or you simply yearn for a less obtrusive smartwatch), the Gear Fit might be up your alley. The Gear 2's heart rate monitor provided a speedy reading (74 bpm, for those of you wondering), the pedometer worked well, and switching between apps and navigating to the home screen was relatively painless. What we can tell you is that the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo, now running Tizen instead of Android, are significantly faster and more responsive than the original Gear, though the switch to Tizen isn't the most earth-shattering alteration, as the aesthetics remain largely similar.
While you'll have to wait for a more in-depth review to see if the 300mAh battery lives up the hype, we can tell you that Samsung claims that the device will function for up to three days of normal usage. Additionally, there are more customization options under the settings menu - easily accessibly from the home screen - that allow you to switch your wallpaper, choose from a selection of clock faces, and even change the font. Samsung has definitely heard your cries about the Galaxy Gear's limited functionality and design and is hoping that the Gear 2's ecosystem will expand once the SDK is released to developers. Both watches boast an integrated infrared LED, allowing you to use your watch to control your TV, though we didn't get to play around with that function. In terms of design, the Gear 2 Neo is practically identical to the Gear 2 save for the removal of the camera, making the Neo a lightweight alternative. Most importantly, the Gear 2 is much more comfortable to wear than its predecessor it sits pretty comfortably, though individuals with smaller wrists (like me, as you can see in the photos) might find the Gear 2's 1.6-inch watch face a bit overwhelming. This means that you can swap out the watch strap - launching in several colors from Samsung and a variety of designs from Nicholas Kirkwood and Moschino - depending on your mood or sartorial choices. Now, the 2 megapixel camera and home button - the latter being a new addition to the design - are located on the watch, above and below the home screen respectively. With the Gear 2, Samsung has sought to streamline the look and feel of the watch by doing away with the clunky accoutrements on the wrist strap and offering up a seamless, metallic finish on the watch.
The previous iteration left something to be desired, both in execution and in aesthetics, especially when it came its inconveniently bulky design - to refresh your memory, the camera was on the wristband instead of on the device itself.

Let's start with the Gear 2, an upgrade on the Galaxy Gear which came out less than a year ago.
While the Galaxy Gear was more miss than hit, Samsung is hoping that its latest crop of wearables packs enough upgrades to wow a reluctant customer base. This time around, Samsung is looking to change all that with its newest line of smartwatches: Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit, announced at Mobile World Congress over the weekend. As we mentioned in our review for Samsung's Galaxy Gear, they're quite often a nifty idea without enough features to really justify a purchase. Smartwatches are good in theory, but rarely so in practice.
